What does the 11" x 7.1" for the Scott towels represent? Is that the area of one sheet? If so, is that the same time as the Bounty sheets? There is no size or other information for Bounty. Beth McNamee Mod 4
The number of paper towels in the Bounty is only 2, but in the Scott Paper Towels, there are 6. I'm a little confused on how we should do it if the number of rolls are different. Should we do it anyway, no matter the number of rolls? Sydney Portock Mod 4
I think it's supposed to be about the value per square inch and finding the better deal. So even though the one with less things costs less, the one with more might have a greater value. So, the number of rolls doesn't matter because the value per square inch will stay the same.
So if on Scott, the size of a sheet of paper towel is 11 x 7.1 that would be 78.1. There are 68 sheets of paper towels on a roll so that would be 78.1 x 68 and you get the are of 5,310.8. There are 6 rolls so now you have the area of about 31,865 inches of paper towels. For Bounty, the size of a sheet is 11in. x 10.4in. which would give you the area of 114.4 inches. There are 64 sheets of paper towel on a roll so 114.4 x 64 = 7,321.6. There are two rolls so 7,321.6 x 2 = 14,643.2. Now these are better in quality and absorb 33% more than regular paper towels and when you combine 33% to 14,643.2 you get an area of about 19,476 inches. In the long run, Bounty's paper towels would be cheaper, but you'd have to buy over 80 at a time until Bounty's is cheaper than Scott's. If you're going buy like 1-5 paper towels like normal people would, go for Scott's.(Even if you would buy 50 paper towels Scott's would be cheaper... talking to you Mr. Crane)
are we trying to only find dollars per inches squared? If so, couldn't we just divide the price by the area because you would end up with same units ($/in^2)
Scott is the better deal because after using factor label, it turns out that the cost per inch in Scott is less than the cost per inch in Bounty. Emma Hoffman
Allen weren't we only looking for which one is cheaper per square? So couldn't we just do for Scott-> 6.99/6 = 1.17 then divide that by 68 to get roughly 0.02 cents per square. While Bounty would be 5.69/2= 2.85 then divide by 64 to get 0.04 cents. So wouldn't it be better to just get Scott? -Madison Hull
Scott is the better deal of paper towels because the $ per square inch is less than that of Bounty. Scott is about $0.00022 per square inch and Bounty is $0.00039 per square inch. I figured this out using factor label.
Through using the factor label method, I was able to determine that the Scott brand paper towels offered a better deal. I went through both brands, starting with $/# of rolls, then roll/# of sheets, and finally sheet/sq in. By doing this, I was able to cancel all the units except for the $ and sq in. After multiplying and dividing, I figured out that the Bounty brand cost about $0.00039/sq in while the Scott brand cost $0.000022/sq in. Though the difference was small, it was clear that the Scott brand was the better deal.
Scott is the better deal, as it has far lower a cost per square inch than Bounty. Scott also has three times the rolls per package than Bounty. However, Bounty is two-ply, whereas Scott is not. -Noah Mascione
Scott is the better because "Scott" measurements '11 x 7.1' (Area of a sheet) so you would multiply them to get 78.1, then you multiply by 68 (amount of sheets per roll) then you will get an answer of 5310.8. Take that answer and multiply it by 6 (amount of rolls per package) which will give you a total area of 31,864.8 square inches. You do the same process with Bounty and receive an an answer of 14,643.2 square inches. Now if your looking for a higher area and quantity of paper towels you would pick Scott but Bounty is 2-ply so it is of higher quality. It all depends what the better deal is on what your looking for. But technically the deal here is SCOTT
After calculating, i found out that scott paper towels is a better deal. The $/squared inch of scott's is $0.00022. Bounty's $/square inch is $0.00039. After all of the waiting, this proves that on cyber monday, if you are to buy any paper towel online, any smart person would clearly buy scott.
After calculation, I found that SCOTT paper towels are priced at 32.53ft squared per dollar and BOUNTY sells for 17.75 feet squared per dollar so from this SCOTT towels are obviously the better deal.
Using factor label, I found Scott to be the better deal compared to Bounty. The amount it costs per inch for Scott is more inexpensive than the cost of an inch of Bounty. Therefore, Scott would be the best option.
As previously stated by just about everyone, after using the factor label method, it can be concluded that Scott is the better deal in contrast to its competitor, Bounty. Each square inch for Scott is less expensive than a square inch for Bounty. Therefore, I now know if I were decided between which of these to buy, I would go for Scott to get more value out of my money.
By using the factor label method i was able to find out that Scott paper towels are the better deal. This is because Bounty costs about $0.00039 per square inch. Scott only costs $0.00022 per square inch. Clearly it would be smart to buy Scott over Bounty -Eric Pushman Mod 4
After using factor label, I figured out that Scott's paper towels are cheaper per square inch compared to Bounty's paper towels. It is roughly $0.000213 per square inch for Scott, and about $0.000389 per square inch for Bounty, using the correct number of sigfigs. So, Scott is the obvious choice to use when you buy paper towels. However, as Jake said, the Bounty is two ply and Scott is only one. One is more reliable than the other, but should that impact the value of the paper towels? -Sydney Portock Mod 4
After using factor label, I was able to find out that buying Scott Paper towels is better than buying Bounty's. Scott's price per square inch is approx. $0.00022, while Bounty is approx. $0.00039. It would be cheaper to but Scott paper towels over Bounty.
After using factor and label, and comparing Bounty versus Scott paper towels, I found out that Scott costs less per inch rather than Bounty. Scott is the better deal.
After using the Factor Label Method, I was able to conclude Scott paper towels were a better deal than Bounty's paper towels. The cost of Scott was about $0.00022 per square inch while the cost of Bounty was $0.00039 per square inch. Therefore, if Mr. Crane was to buy paper towels on Cyber Monday, he should go with Scott paper towels. Mod 7
I found discovered that the Scott paper towel are much better than the Bounty towels. While $1 of Bounty buys about 2573.5 square inches, a dollar buys about 4558.6 square inches of the Scott paper towel.

After my calculations, I found out that Scott offered a better deal because it was $.00022 per square inch, and Bounty offered $.00039 per square inch. ~Mike Dalessio Mod 7
Between Scott and Bounty, Scott is the cheapest paper towel brand to purchase. Scott's dollars per square inch ($0.00022) is less than Bounty's dollars per square inch ($0.00039). $0.00022 is clearly less than $0.00039, making Scott the brand everyone should buy. It should be noted however, that there may or may not be a difference in overall quality of each product, which could potentionally make Bounty the better buy. This is unknown unless we looked at reviews or bought and compared each; however, paper towels are pretty similiar regardless of the brand, so Scott is still the best deal. -John Mairone Mod 7
After reading through other people's comments, I am not sure about my answer now. I could have read the labels in a way it was not meant to be, but I got that Bounty had a better deal at $0.00000193/in^2 while Scott only had $0.00000563/in^2. ~Justin Liu (Mod 7)
At first I was confused on where to start with this problem. However, after looking at what my classmates posted and rethinking the problem over I was able to start the process of Factor Label. With my calculations, I was able to figure out that buying the Scott brand of paper towels is the better purchase. This is because Scott has $0.00022 per square inch while Bounty has $0.00039. As said above, Scott has the best deal, but there is still the possibility that Bounty has the better quality. That would be a different test and you would probably need to but both of the brands. But considering cost, Mr. Crane should buy the Scott brand on Cyber Monday.
After factor labeling the brands of Scott and Bounty paper rolls, I came to a conclusion that Scott's had the better deal. I converted $6.99 / 1 pack into $.00022 per square inch by factor labeling. After I did the same with Bounty's, which was $.00039 per square inch, I knew that Scott was the better deal because it offered a cheaper value per square inch. -Samantha Pastore Mod 7
