AP Physics B
All students are expected to bring all necessary materials and work on assignments.  If you are having issues post to the Blog.  You will receive credit and grades for your work.

  1. Mr. Crane, Billy and I still need to get the mass for our pig. We have all the other measurements and that's all that we need now, will the room be available on monday for us to use or no?

    1. Pretty sure Mr. Pezly is filling for Crane. The pigs will be available to my knowledge.

    2. If they aren't, the pigs' masses probably only differ by a negligible amount

    3. Unless yours was dropped a lot and lost mass

  2. Mr. Crane, will our grades remain the same until the end of the quarter or will you continue to put grades in even in your absence or when you come back before the end of the first quarter?

    1. I would assume he is coming back in time Marty but either way he can change the grades from home... my test grade is still in as a zero so.......

  3. Are either of you having issues to the third link labeled "paper?" I'm coming up with a single page about homeschooling.

    1. The link brought me to a page consisting of three blank graphs. Is that the page you had wanted?

    2. Also having trouble getting to the final one titled 11.1-11.4; its a dead link. Sorry for the inconvenience, Mr. Crane.

    1. If the sub did collect it, he/she/it probably wouldn't be able to grade them

    2. I will have the sub collect it on Wednesday of this week it is a Q1 grade. I will have my children grade it.

  7. I couldnt open the link for the Wiley Plus Assignment or the Active Physics Electrostatics 11.1-11.4 either... the other links work though

  8. On a F.B.D. is it required to state the magnitude of each force, or simply what the the force would be referred to as? (ex. Force of gravity=F sub g)

  9. What is the other method for solution for the "When Pigs Fly" lab other than using the equation?

    1. Graphical. I know its a little late for this, but I'm still putting it out there. It's the one where we use a FBD to solve.

  10. for the active physics are we just suppose to copy are answers onto a piece of paper and turn them in in class?

  11. How are we supposed to turn in the Active Physics assignment?
    -Jason Rodman

  12. Are we supposed to make up our own F.B.D.s for the graph paper or is it just there as an example?
    -Jason Rodman

    ReplyDelete
  13. No sir. You are to draw the FBD for the situations given on the graph paper. Then write the stupid equations based on your F.O.R. In the space to the right. :7)

  14. Okay i'm sorry i'm a little confused. The bullet labeled F.B.D W.S isn't a link. Are we supposed to draw the FBD from the self quiz on the graph paper or is there a link we are missing? Also i'd like to know how far other people have gotten into the wiley plus assignment because i've spent 3 classes so far on it and i'm on number 11 or so. I'm not quite sure how or if i'm going to be able to finish it by the deadline of november 1st.
Also, the active physics assignment is what we're supposed to complete last, correct? Only if we finish everything else?
To summarize: if someone could explain the FBD assignment to me more clearly, and provide insight to the wileyplus assignment i'd be greatful.

there is a link to a now with FBD WS... you should complete theses first before doing any more of the problem set. That should help improve the speed with which you are doing the problems. There is a pedagogy to the order of the assignment so yes they should be done in order. Finish' as much as you can.

  15. To add to some of Martin's confusion, I am taking about half an hour per question while looking at how to do it in the online textbook, which doesn't always help because some of these questions seem different from the book examples and the interaactive solution for the race car got stuck for me at one point. I think I've finished about 20 questions or so but when I entered some of them in (like the rock in the tire one, which isn't like the examples) I got them wrong. If anyone could at least explain that one question about the rock in the tire or the race car around the track I could probably have some peace of mind on this. thanks

    1. I had trouble with the rock problem too. You have to include the force of the tire tread pushing in on the rock twice, once for each side. I tried this and I got it right.

  16. ok so if you you have a question
please include the q# not the one about the rock.
what the issue is 'what you have done so far

  17. If anyone else was concerned about not having enough time to finish all of the assignments, Mr. Crane told me, "Most important are the FBD. Second on the problem sets that you have at least up to the FBD/picture done. If you can't solve it move to the next one and repeat.

  18. And if anyone could tell me, what does F.O.R. stand for?

  19. If you look back to the pirate lab it was one of the requirements when dealing with vectors. Frame of reference. It should also be on the instructions for mechanical systems.

    2. I think Mr. Crane would tell us to just skip problems we can't get. He would want us to get as many done as we can, and if Ms. DiVincenzo can't get it, I don't think Mr. Crane would be too upset if we can't either.

  23. Will this work and/or the pig lab go into the first marking period grade? Also, my vector quest was not marked with a redo symbol but the entry for Test Corrections recently appeared in PowerSchool. Does this mean I can retake the test on Monday? Thank you

  25. Can someone who already entered the answer in to problem 10 on wileyplus and got it right explain it to me? I've entered in my answer by doing the math different ways so I know that it should be a method issue. I plugged in the numbers for Ac=(v^2)/(r) and solved for v. I then put the velocity and the second radius in the Ac=(v^2)/(r) equation and solved for Ac.

  26. Hey Mr. Crane
I know this is not one of your top priorities but before I realized that the numbers switch, I continuously answered number three and got it wrong... I will show you when you get back but I just don't want to lose credit for a question I got right.
