Mr. Crane, Billy and I still need to get the mass for our pig. We have all the other measurements and that's all that we need now, will the room be available on monday for us to use or no?
ReplyDelete-Jason Rodman
Pretty sure Mr. Pezly is filling for Crane. The pigs will be available to my knowledge.
DeleteIf they aren't, the pigs' masses probably only differ by a negligible amount
DeleteUnless yours was dropped a lot and lost mass
DeleteMr. Crane, will our grades remain the same until the end of the quarter or will you continue to put grades in even in your absence or when you come back before the end of the first quarter?
ReplyDeleteI would assume he is coming back in time Marty but either way he can change the grades from home... my test grade is still in as a zero so.......

What Taylor said...
DeleteAre either of you having issues to the third link labeled "paper?" I'm coming up with a single page about homeschooling.
ReplyDeleteusu paper link below...
ReplyDeletehttp://donnayoung.org/f13/math-f/graph-paper/18x18-0-15inch-pink.pdf
The link brought me to a page consisting of three blank graphs. Is that the page you had wanted?
DeleteAlso having trouble getting to the final one titled 11.1-11.4; its a dead link. Sorry for the inconvenience, Mr. Crane.
Deleteis our lab for the pigs due in class tomorrow?
ReplyDeleteis our pigs lab due when you come back or in class tomorrow?
ReplyDeleteIf the sub did collect it, he/she/it probably wouldn't be able to grade them
DeleteI will have the sub collect it on Wednesday of this week it is a Q1 grade. I will have my children grade it.
DeleteAre they harsh graders?
Delete*Caleb, the physics virtuoso.*
ReplyDeleteI couldnt open the link for the Wiley Plus Assignment or the Active Physics Electrostatics 11.1-11.4 either... the other links work though
ReplyDelete-Casey Butrus
Try it now>>>
DeleteOn a F.B.D. is it required to state the magnitude of each force, or simply what the the force would be referred to as? (ex. Force of gravity=F sub g)
ReplyDelete-Jason Rodman
Just the identification of the force we often call this the agent of the the force... (Jedi?)
DeleteWhat is the other method for solution for the "When Pigs Fly" lab other than using the equation?
ReplyDeleteGraphical. I know its a little late for this, but I'm still putting it out there. It's the one where we use a FBD to solve.
Deletefor the active physics are we just suppose to copy are answers onto a piece of paper and turn them in in class?
ReplyDeleteHow are we supposed to turn in the Active Physics assignment?
ReplyDelete-Jason Rodman
Are we supposed to make up our own F.B.D.s for the graph paper or is it just there as an example?
ReplyDelete-Jason Rodman
No sir. You are to draw the FBD for the situations given on the graph paper. Then write the stupid equations based on your F.O.R. In the space to the right. :7)
ReplyDeleteOkay i'm sorry i'm a little confused. The bullet labeled F.B.D W.S isn't a link. Are we supposed to draw the FBD from the self quiz on the graph paper or is there a link we are missing? Also i'd like to know how far other people have gotten into the wiley plus assignment because i've spent 3 classes so far on it and i'm on number 11 or so. I'm not quite sure how or if i'm going to be able to finish it by the deadline of november 1st.
ReplyDeleteAlso, the active physics assignment is what we're supposed to complete last, correct? Only if we finish everything else?
To summarize: if someone could explain the FBD assignment to me more clearly, and provide insight to the wileyplus assignment i'd be greatful.
Marty
Deletethere is a link to a now with FBD WS... you should complete theses first before doing any more of the problem set. That should help improve the speed with which you are doing the problems. There is a pedagogy to the order of the assignment so yes they should be done in order. Finish' as much as you can.
To add to some of Martin's confusion, I am taking about half an hour per question while looking at how to do it in the online textbook, which doesn't always help because some of these questions seem different from the book examples and the interaactive solution for the race car got stuck for me at one point. I think I've finished about 20 questions or so but when I entered some of them in (like the rock in the tire one, which isn't like the examples) I got them wrong. If anyone could at least explain that one question about the rock in the tire or the race car around the track I could probably have some peace of mind on this. thanks
ReplyDeleteI had trouble with the rock problem too. You have to include the force of the tire tread pushing in on the rock twice, once for each side. I tried this and I got it right.
Delete-Kevin Meglathery
ok so if you you have a question
ReplyDeleteplease include the q# not the one about the rock.
what the issue is 'what you have done so far
If anyone else was concerned about not having enough time to finish all of the assignments, Mr. Crane told me, "Most important are the FBD. Second on the problem sets that you have at least up to the FBD/picture done. If you can't solve it move to the next one and repeat.

DeleteAnd if anyone could tell me, what does F.O.R. stand for?
ReplyDeleteIf you look back to the pirate lab it was one of the requirements when dealing with vectors. Frame of reference. It should also be on the instructions for mechanical systems.
ReplyDeleteIts this really going to all be due online at 4 o'clock on Friday because these problems are really time consuming and difficult because we have not learned this yet
ReplyDelete-Jaz Popa
i agree it takes a really long time to get the problems done. most class periods i cant get more than 4 done
DeleteKara Sulzer
Yes I also agree that the problems are very very difficult
DeleteFor the wiley Plus test my class was very confused on how to figure out problems 17 and 26. She tried to explain it to us but i think we all got more confused.
ReplyDeleteKara Sulzer
Yes she gave us a formula to use, but I did not give the correct answer for 26 -Jaz Popa
Deleteit*
Deleteyeah same
Deletekara sulzer
I think Mr. Crane would tell us to just skip problems we can't get. He would want us to get as many done as we can, and if Ms. DiVincenzo can't get it, I don't think Mr. Crane would be too upset if we can't either.

ReplyDeleteWill this work and/or the pig lab go into the first marking period grade? Also, my vector quest was not marked with a redo symbol but the entry for Test Corrections recently appeared in PowerSchool. Does this mean I can retake the test on Monday? Thank you
ReplyDeleteHypothetically if I were to drop this course, would I still be able to take the AP Test in Spring?

ReplyDeleteCan someone who already entered the answer in to problem 10 on wileyplus and got it right explain it to me? I've entered in my answer by doing the math different ways so I know that it should be a method issue. I plugged in the numbers for Ac=(v^2)/(r) and solved for v. I then put the velocity and the second radius in the Ac=(v^2)/(r) equation and solved for Ac.
ReplyDeleteI thought my work was correct but I just entered it and it was incorrect
Delete~Taylor Nardone
I did it the same way
DeleteHey Mr. Crane
ReplyDeleteI know this is not one of your top priorities but before I realized that the numbers switch, I continuously answered number three and got it wrong... I will show you when you get back but I just don't want to lose credit for a question I got right.
Sincerely Pat Green's favorite person,
Taylor Nardone
Not to put down good news, but is the new chapter 5 problem set that's in powerschool the grade we received for the wileyplus assignment, based on effort?
ReplyDeleteDoes mod 2 meet in the morning on Monday?
ReplyDeleteShould mod 2 come in for early physics on Monday, November 4? -Jaz Popa
ReplyDeleteI think so, just to be safe. Worst case scenario, we have an extra 30 minutes to kill.
Delete-Kevin Meglathery
Better to b safe...
